New Mexico Public Relations Society of America Awards
JKPR Receives “Best of Show” Award for Third Year in a Row
Albuquerque, NM – May 6, 2011 – James Korenchen Public Relations, an Albuquerque-based public relations consultancy with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Austin, Tex., Washington D.C. and London, received two “Best of Show” awards at the 2011 Cumbre Public Relations Awards for outstanding achievement in both the Public Relations Campaigns and Tactics categories. This is the third year in a row that the company has received “Best of Show” honors as the overall best tactical public relations program of the year. This year for the first time, it also received the “Best of Show” award for overall best public relations campaign of the year.
Presented by the New Mexico Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, James Korenchen Public Relations received the “Best of Show” awards for its work with the international travel Web site TripAdvisor.com in the Tactics category, and for the Santa Ana Star Casino New Mexico Open Golf Tournament in the Campaigns category.
In addition, JKPR received silver Cumbre awards for its work with the Santa Ana Star Casino in the Reputation Management category and the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa in the Creative Tactics category.
“This is an incredible honor to receive the ‘Best of Show’ award for three years in a row in the Tactics category, and also awarded ‘Best of Show’ in the public relations Campaigns category. I attribute the accomplishment to our strong clients that allow us to develop new and innovative PR programs on their behalf. It is truly a distinction to be recognized by our peers for outstanding achievements in the public relations industry,” said James Korenchen, president of James Korenchen Public Relations. “With so many strong entries this year from The Garrity Group, Carroll Strategies, and others, JKPR is incredibly humbled to have received top honors this year in both categories.”
JKPR generated 1,365 TV news stories for TripAdvisor in the top 25 U.S. markets and more than 100 national stories including coverage on ABC “Good Morning America,” “CBS Evening News with Katie Couric,” NBC “Today” show, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” CBS “Early Show,” and more. The company also helped TripAdvisor increase monthly visitors to its Web site by 33 percent and helped increase the amount of user-generated reviews by 10 million.
The “Best of Show” award-winning program for the Santa Ana Star Casino New Mexico Open Golf Tournament generated 100 news stories with an advertising equivalency of more than $231,000 (based on the column-inch and 30-second standards) for the state’s largest golf tournament held at the Santa Ana Golf Club on The Pueblo of Santa Ana. The public relations program helped to generate a full-field of golfers for the tournament and hundreds of spectators attending the event.
The silver award-winning program for Santa Ana Star Casino helped to attract new guests and Players Club members to the casino by promoting its entertainment and sporting venues, culinary expertise and guest benefits, along with gaming. The silver award-winning program for the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa helped reintroduce the property to national and regional news media through the development of a creative mailer. It provided them with a “Taste of Tamaya” without actually staying at the resort, and helped generate national and regional news coverage about the property.
